Sukanti Photography | Urban city
What I like about this photography is the richness in some of the colouring in the photography. It adds a nice edge to it regardless of it being of a worn down place/possessions.
The shape being off centre and the HDR being so high adds a really interesting take on such a simple photograph. Also with further looking I like the twigs and rubbish gathered round the bag.
In this photograph I liked the vibrance caught in the colours. Also the grime on the floor contrasts with the art on the walls. The different graffiti adds a playfulness to the sombre look to the photograph. This photograph fit really nicely with some of my original work looking into what society wants to keep backstage.
The perspective of the photo makes it really interesting, it naturally makes you feel like you're staring upwards. However the contrast found in the bricks adds a really nice brightness and detail to the bricks.
When looking at ideas for taboos in society I decided to look at one of societies biggest bad habit taboos- smoking.
When searching for photographs who looked at smoking photography I found an internet based blogger who expressed her giving up smoking through photography.
I like her description of her photograph “If this image should be in colour, what colour temperature would portray the emotion of this image best?”
What I like most about this photograph was the idea of the dust and dirt around the cigarette really shows the damage from what is inside the cigaret. The idea of movement around the edge also really emphasises the macro on the cigarette.
Stephen Wright
A theme I really loved from Steven Wrights photography was the idea of looking at homeless people. His work was very simply portraits the idea of homelessness, without any sort of staging and this naturalistic and documentary style photography is something I hope to explore in my development and into my final outcomes.
